Dan Aykroyd Says Paul Feig’s ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Is Funnier Than The Originals

Ghostbusters originator and star Dan Aykroyd has taken to social media today to silence haters of Paul Feig‘s yet to be released reboot of the classic franchise, giving the film a glowing review after seeing a test screening, even going so far as to call it funnier than the originals.

That is one hell of an endorsement, and coming from Dr. Ray Stantz himself it’s sure to take some of the wind out of the sails of the film’s detractors (as if), of which there are many. Funny how everyone seems to have made their mind up about the film without seeing it though. Except for Aykroyd of course.

Posting on Facebook following the test screening the former Saturday Night Live star wrote:

Aykroyd, of course, has a cameo in the film as well as being executive producer and receiving a writing credit, so his opinion may not exactly be unbiased. However, as mentioned before, he’s the only one of the countless film and media figures to have offered their view on the film to have actually seen it, which has got to count for something right?

Apparently not according to internet uber fans/trolls, with the comments section under Aykroyd’s post filling up fast with people ready to pour hate, while others defended him (with way better calls).

It wasn’t all hatred though, as one fan made clear with the following heartwarming comment (cheapened slightly by the misspelling of Harold Ramis)

Anyway why don’t we all just STFU and wait until the film comes out, alright?

Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters is sliming its way into cinemas on Friday July 15th, you can check out the most recent trailer below.
