Premiere: The Way Down Wanderers Head Home on Folk-Rollicking ‘Wildfire’ Video

Leading with soul is quick validation of authenticity, as true passion is nearly impossible to synthesize. That’s part of what makes The Way Down Wanderers such a refreshing listen – their propulsive rhythms and rich harmonies expand upon the folk Americana thrust of their sound, evidenced in full on their eponymous debut album, set for release on July 15 (pre-order).

The Peoria, IL collective recorded their LP at Sonic Ranch in Texas, engineered by Grammy winner Jerry Ordonez, and mixed by multiple Grammy winner Neil Cappellino, and with appearances by Michael Duchette (accordion on “Silver Days”) and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Critter Fuqua. Produced by The Avett Brothers’ Mike Marsh, the album runs the down-home dirt-road gamut from bluegrass through barn-burning folk rock and beyond.

Crave is proud to premiere the band’s new video for “Wildfire” filmed in The Way Down Wanderer’s hometown by friends, in backyards and various other familiar settings. Surrounded by loved ones, the boys deliver an encapsulation of the radiant energy of their nucleus, the core of love and home from which they all spring.

“‘Wildfire’ speaks to this sort of inherent human drive to always be moving forward to the next best thing,” explains vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Collin Krause. “It kind of addresses the idea that it’s never quite what it seems once you get there – that the people you’ve known for a long time and the places and experiences that are familiar will always pull you back. to me, that’s where true happiness and fulfillment can exist.”
