The Iron Fist series has found its leading lady, and she’s a Marvel heroine in her own right! Jessica Henwick has been cast as Colleen Wing, one half of the Daughters of the Dragon.
Entertainment Weekly broke the story of Henwick’s casting, and there’s a very good chance that you’ve seen her onscreen before. She had a small cameo role as an X-Wing pilot in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and a scene-stealing turn in Game of Thrones season 5 as Nymeria Sand. Henwick has also appeared on the Fortitude TV series and lent her voice to the Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey video game.
“I’m very excited to have Jessica as our Colleen Wing,” said Iron Fist showrunner Scott Buck. “She’s shown us that she can bring both a sense of quiet strength as well as an engaging vulnerability to the character.” “Jessica brings both a youthful vitality mixed with a strong sense of authority crucial to the character,” added Marvel Head of Television, Jeph Loeb. “And as anyone who’s seen her in Game of Thrones can attest, she can throw down with the best of them, making her the perfect Colleen Wing.”

Henwick isn’t the only Game of Thrones star on Iron Fist. Finn Jones played Loras Tyrell through the first six seasons of Game of Thrones before landing the title role in Iron Fist. On the Iron Fist series, Colleen Wing will be a martial arts expert who becomes an ally and a friend to Danny Rand (Jones). No other roles have currently been cast on the series.
Within Marvel’s comic book universe, Colleen Wing and Misty Knight formed their own team called the Daughters of the Dragon, and they starred in their own adventures before eventually gaining their own miniseries and an ongoing Heroes of Hire title. Given that Simone Missick is playing Misty Knight in the Luke Cage series, it seems inevitable that Knight and Wing will meet up in the MCU as well.
Iron Fist will begin filming its 13 episode first season later this year.
