Nike Terminates Contract With Manny Pacquiao Over Gay Marriage Comments

World champion boxer and Philippine politician Manny Pacquiao is currently under fire after making anti-LGBT comments this week in his home country.

Even after issuing an apology, Nike has reportedly terminated all ties with the champ.

So what did he say?

Reportedly, he compared gay people to animals, saying, “if you have male-to-male or female-to-female [relationships], then people are worse than animals.”

And according to Complex, it’s not the first time he’s been in hot water over his views on gay marriage.

Pacquiao, who has already held office in the Philippines for years, is currently running for a seat in the senate.

His apology may have been a forced hand considering the boxer posted this on Instagram following his TV interview, saying, “just telling the truth of what the Bible says.”

Pacquiao is supposed to fight Timothy Bradley Jr. in Las Vegas this April.
