Watch The Extended Trailer For The X-Files Season Finale

In the first episode of The X-Files revival miniseries, conspiracy theorist and talk show host Tad O’Malley (Joel McHale) showed Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) compelling evidence of alien technology before a shadowy conspiracy discredited O’Malley, murdered his primary witness, and forced him into hiding.

Next Monday, O’Malley will return in the finale of The X-Files miniseries with a stunning claim: everyone has alien DNA fused with their own. And it would be easy to dismiss O’Malley’s claim…if almost the entire population of the U.S. hadn’t suddenly been stricken by an inexplicable illness.

“My Struggle II” puts the spotlight on Gillian Anderson’s Dana Scully as she tries to cure the plague while coming to a few unsettling realizations about herself. Meanwhile, Mulder will finally track down the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) for the first time since 2002! But even the CSM may be helpless to stop the plans that have been set in motion.

Fox has released an extended trailer for The X-Files season finale, which also indicates that Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose as Agents Miller and Einstein. And they won’t be alone: Annabeth Gish is also making her return as former X-Files agent Monica Reyes!

The X-Files miniseries concludes on Monday, February 22. There is currently no word about a second follow up miniseries, but don’t bet against it! And knowing series creator Chris Carter’s previous work, it’s also a safe bet that the finale won’t be offering up much in the way of closure or answers. But that’s always been the way that The X-Files has worked. It’s never been about resolution.
