Norman Reedus Was Bitten By a Walking Dead Fan

Norman Reedus is one of the breakout stars of AMC’s The Walking Dead. His character, Daryl Dixon, doesn’t even appear in the comic book series co-created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore. And yet Daryl is far and away one of the most popular characters on the show.

But perhaps Daryl is just a bit too popular. TMZ is reporting that an overzealous female Walking Dead fan actually bit Reedus last weekend during the annual Walker Stalker Con in New Jersey.

“A rep for New Jersey’s Walker Stalker Con says event security was standing a couple feet from Reedus when the fan opened her mouth and tried to take a chunk out of his chest. Cops and event security jumped into action and booted the biter from the convention. The rep says the woman has been banned from all future Walker Stalker conventions and other sponsored events where Norman is present.”

Now, if the woman had actually been a Walker, that would have been bad news for Reedus and his iconic character. But Reedus appears to have had a sense of humor about the whole thing. He even posted about it on his Instagram account.

Um please don’t

Reedus also declined to press charges against the woman, since her bite didn’t break the skin.

In a way, it’s surprising that there haven’t been more incidents like this. Reedus and several other stars on the comic book convention circuit routinely make themselves available for photo ops with fans. Security personnel are usually on hand, but that is about as close an encounter with a celebrity that most people will ever get. Perhaps for good reason…
