Stephen Colbert vs. The Amazing Acro-Cats

Cats are beautiful and intelligent creatures. But just try to get a cat to obey your orders! They aren’t dogs, and they aren’t always inclined to perform on command.

Contrary to popular belief, cats can be trained. The trainers behind The Amazing Acro-Cats has a line-up of trained felines that can do tricks and jumps on command…if they feel like it. This week, The Amazing Acro-Cats were on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. But under the glare of late night television, most of the cats wouldn’t even get out of their cages!

The entire segment has a lot of unintentional hilarity, due to the reluctance of the cats. Colbert saved the bit by donning a pair of plastic cat ears and jumping in as necessary. A few of the cats even cooperated on the minor tricks.

In the end, the audience stayed friendly enough that the Amazing Acro-Cats were able to go out on a successful cat trick. The people behind The Amazing Acro-Cats appeared in support of a Kickstarter campaign to raise the money for a new tour bus and raise awareness of cat adoption.

I can personally attest that cats can make great pets. But the enthusiasm of the non-performing Acro-Cats is probably a better indicator of what you’ll see from cats on a day-to-day basis.
