Stephen Colbert Helps ‘Melania Trump’ Clear Up Those Plagiarism Accusations

Stephen Colbert is absolutely on a role with this Republican National Conference circus. It was only a matter of time before the social commentator turned his ever-watchful gaze to the slow-motion trainwreck that was Melania Trump’s speech.

On this matter Colbert took the high road and invited Melania, or at least a pretty spot on look-alike, to use The Late Show platform to clear up some of the miscommunication behind the speech. As it turns out, Melania didn’t plagiarize lines from a speech given by First Lady Michelle Obama years ago.

“My fellow Americans” she beings in her now heavily rotated Eastern European accent, adding “It is truly the best of times, it is the worst of times. I did not plagiarize my speech last night. I would not, could not with a goat.”

“…That is because I learned honesty in my humble upbringing in West Philadelphia, born and raised.”

Melania asks followers to “give me a break” and wants to “fight for your right to party.” Given that this speech was written by the same team who wrote last night’s speech, um, I mean written by Melania Trump, it’s clear that there was no plagiarizing but rather a propensity to wilfully misunderstand…
