Petition Calls For Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl To Host ‘Saturday Night Live’

A petition is calling for Foo Fighters frontman and all-round entertaining dude Dave Grohl to host an episode of Saturday Night Live with the band as musical guests, and the idea is gaining momentum.

The petition, launched in September by the good people at ‘Dave Grohl Host SNL’, is hoping to make the show’s co-creator Lorne Michaels and NBC‘s executive team aware that Grohl’s fans, the self-described ‘Grohlies’, want the man himself to host SNL before rocking out with the Foos.

“There have been many musicians who have hosted SNL over the years, however Dave Grohl is the only one to appear on the show over 12 times and frequent in sketches, but never host,” the Grohlies say. “Let’s spread the word and make this happen this year.”

Grohl first appeared on SNL with Nirvana back in 1992 (below), and Foo Fighters have performed on the show seven times since then, including a medley with guest host Mick Jagger in 2012.

The ‘Dave Grohl Host SNL’ Facebook group has been up-and-running since June 2014, with a similar page called ‘Dave Grohl Should Host Saturday Night Live’ active since February 2012.

Nonetheless, both pages are calling for the same thing, and it could very well happen given Foo Fighters recently added some Emmy Awards to their trophy cabinet.

The petition to get Dave Grohl a hosting gig on SNL has racked up over 3,600 signatures at the time of writing, and is available to view and sign over at the ipetitions website.
