Kathy Griffin Says Dave Grohl Acted Like He Didn’t Know Her After Her Trump Photo Controversy
Recently, the 65-year-old comedian discussed various encounters with her famous celebrity friends on her YouTube channel. During the conversation, she shared how Dave Grohl allegedly ignored her at an airport.
Kathy Griffin said, “He and I used to be kind of friendly. We’d email every so often, and I would see him at gigs. I was in one of their videos one time for, I think it was Fuse TV. Anyone remember that?”
“Then my scandal happened with the Trump photo, and I ran into him at JFK. It was at the newsstand, and I didn’t want to initiate a conversation because I was so used to celebrities not wanting anything to do with me, or even wanting anyone to see them standing next to me, and telling me so,” the comedian added.
She concluded, “And then Dave acted like he didn’t know me. Now, maybe he didn’t see me, because I’m so hard to miss in a newsstand. He was like two seats away from me on the plane. Then I thought, well, maybe I should just go up to him. And I thought, no, if he’s being like this because of the Trump head picture scandal, it’s just going to be awkward.”
Kathy Griffin further explained to fans that this is the reason she refers to Dave Grohl as her former friend. However, while praising his music, she also acknowledged that Dave is an A+ musician.
Griffin and Grohl had known each other for years. The two artists often crossed paths through the music and comedy circuits.
In 2011, Kathy also participated in a promotional project for Dave Grohl’s rock band Foo Fighters.
