Ryan Gosling is returning to host Saturday Night Live in March
Ryan Gosling will return to host a Saturday Night Live episode, releasing on March 7, 2026 (via Variety). Notably, this will mark his fourth time hosting an episode of the sketch comedy show. Gosling previously hosted episodes released on December 5, 2015, September 30, 2017, and April 13, 2024.
The three-time Oscar nominee will promote his upcoming science fiction film, Project Hail Mary, in the episode. The Phil Lord and Christopher Miller film, for which Gosling serves as a producer in addition to starring in, is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 20, roughly two weeks after the episode’s broadcast. In addition to Gosling, the film stars Ken Leung, Sandra Hüller, Milana Vayntrub, Lionel Boyce, and James Ortiz.
Gosling’s hosting venture will be accompanied by the SNL debut of English virtual band Gorillaz. The Damon Albarn-created band, whose lineup includes four fictional members, 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Russel Hobbs, and Noodle, as well as real-life creators: Albarn, Jamie Hewlett, and Remi Kabaka Jr., will reportedly perform songs from their upcoming album, The Mountain. Five singles from the album, launching on February 27, 2026, have already been released.
Outside of hosting, the Blade Runner 2049 star has featured in numerous SNL sketches since his debut on the show. Some of his most notable credits include Kate McKinnon‘s “Close Encounter” and “Beavis and Butt-Head.”
In the former, he, McKinnon, and Cecily Strong played characters humorously describing their experiences getting abducted by aliens. He and McKinnon revived their characters for the cold open of the April 13, 2024, episode, which he hosted.
Meanwhile, in the latter, he and Mikey Day essayed two people resembling the titular characters from the adult teen animated sitcom.
