Run The Jewels, Al Green & More Get Special Vinyl Release For ‘Ten Bands One Cause’

I like boobs. Do you like boobs? Of course you do. And let’s be honest: “like” is putting it extremely mildly. And the women who possess them – our friends, girlfriends, sisters, mothers, wives and beyond – mean more to us than we’re usually able to articulate in face-to-face encounters. Today RED releases its second annual run of limited edition copies of pink vinyl for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) from Run The Jewels, Sturgill Simpson, Ingrid Michaelson, Joey Bada$$, Between The Burried and Me, Chet Faker, Clutch, Al Green, Pierce The Veil, and Primus.

The exclusive Ten Bands One Cause releases are available for purchase at retailers nationwide, wherever vinyl is sold, and proceeds sponsor Gilda’s Club NYC. The artists are also contributing signed items for the cause.

“Everyone is impacted in some way or another by cancer,” Alex Brody, Director of Indie Sales and Marketing for RED, explains to Crave. “I was directly impacted when my dad passed away from cancer 15 years ago. Gilda’s Club NYC makes it possible so no one impacted by cancer has to go at it alone. Selling these pink vinyl albums allows Gilda’s Club NYC to offer free programs to those dealing with the disease. To have bands from all walks of life come together to offer this is a really beautiful thing.”

Albums now available on special-edition pink vinyl:

Run The Jewels – Run The Jewels 2

Sturgill Simpson – Metamodern Sounds In Country Music

Joey Bada$$ – B4.DA.$$

Al Green – The Belle Album

Between The Buried & Me – Coma Ecliptic

Chet Faker – Built On Glass

Pierce The Veil – Collide With The Sky

Primus – Frizzle Fry

Clutch – La Curandera

Ingrid Michaelson – Lights Out

Over a year ago, RED teamed up with some of its premiere label partners and artists to create and launch Ten Bands One Cause. The program, which included limited pink vinyl from notables like Against Me!, Courtney Barnett, Jason Isbell, Lucius, Temples and others, raised nearly $30,000 in 2014 for Gilda’s Club NYC. Gilda’s Club NYC is innovative cancer support organization founded in 1995 by psychotherapist Joanna Bull, Gene Wilder, Mandy Patinkin, Joel Siegel, and other generous individuals, in memory of SNL vet/actor/comedienne, Gilda Radner, who passed away in 1989 from cancer.

Says Ingrid Michaelson, “I lost my mother to cancer last year and want to do all I can do to help those affected by this cruel disease. I am honored to be a part of 10 Bands One Cause benefitting Gilda’s Club NYC.”

Adds JP from Clutch, “Breast cancer is something that affects each one of us. We are honored to lend our support to Gilda’s Club NYC and their mission to support, empower, and educate cancer patients and their families.”

Make a difference and get some incredible, classic vinyl while you’re at it. If nothing else, do it for the boobs.
