The X-Files Miniseries Will Premiere At New York Comic Con

New York Comic Con has been one of the few conventions to challenge San Diego’s Comic Con International in terms of scale and Hollywood guests. While NYCC still has a long way to go on that front, this year’s con will play host to one of the biggest premieres in years.

Fox is bringing the first episode of the six part miniseries revival of The X-Files to New York Comic Con for its North American premiere on Saturday, October 10. That instantly makes the event one of the most heavily anticipated panels at NYCC. After the screening, The X-Files series creator Chris Carter will take the stage with David Duchovny to discuss the revival and take questions from fans.

Technically, the NYCC screening is not the world premiere of the new X-Files episode. That will actually take place on October 6 at MIPCOM in Cannes, France. But MIPCOM is more of an industry event and NYCC is open to the fans. And only Carter is making the trip out to France for the MIPCOM screening.

The X-Files ran on Fox from 1993 to 2002 and it was a blockbuster hit for several years. Duchovny and his costar Gillian Anderson are reprising their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully for the first time since The X-Files: I Want To Believe movie was released in theaters in 2009.

Carter isn’t the only returning member of the creative team. Popular X-Files writers Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong will each contribute an episode, while Carter will write and direct the remaining three episodes including the first episode. Some of the guest stars lined up for The X-Files revival include Joel McHale, Robbie Amell , Lauren Ambrose, Annet Mahendru, Rhys Darby, and Kumail Nanjiani.

Fox will premiere The X-Files miniseries on Sunday, January 24, 2016.
