Man To Dress As Ninja Turtle For His Wedding After Tweet Goes Viral

Thanks to the glorious power of the internet (and the existence of Turtle Power), one lucky Twitter user’s dream of dressing as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle on his wedding day is soon to come true.

On Thursday, 27th August, San Francisco Apple employee Nic Vargus posted a simple tweet which read, “My girlfriend says if this tweet gets 100k RTs [retweets], she’ll let me dress up as a ninja turtle on our wedding day.”

The internet, of course, quickly took on the challenge. Less than 24 hours later, Vargus’ tweet (below) was already halfway to its goal – a goal which it has since smashed, with over 112,000 retweets now collected at the time of writing.

Vargus’ genius wedding day campaign was helped along by a retweet from actor Seth Rogan (who has over three million followers) and some encouragement from Daniel Smith of the band Bastille.

Even Twitter itself retweeted Vargus’ tweet and added, “Cowabunga, dude,” followed by some well-placed pizza and turtle emoji.

“You guys are all insane and I love each and every one of you,” Vargus tweeted as he watched the retweet count climb up towards the 100,000 mark. “It’s been a strange 24 hours,” he added after the target was met.

Vargus’ fiance, Lindsey Oakes, later told her soon-to-be Ninja Turtle husband via Twitter, “No ring, no Raph,” referring to the Ninja Turtle Raphael.

Catch the highlights of Vargus’ campaign below, and bring on the impending Ninja Turtle nuptials.
