Élodie Yung Is Elektra In Daredevil Season 2

The first season of Daredevil broadly hinted that Elektra would be a part of Matt Murdock’s future. Today, Marvel and Netflix confirmed it.

Élodie Yung has been cast as Elektra Natchios, “a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.” Yung previously played Jinx in G.I. Joe Retaliation. As you can see in the pic above, playing a ninja who wears red is a good look for Yung!

During writer and artist Frank Miller’s first run on Daredevil, Elektra was introduced as a particularly lethal villainess for the title character. Miller later revealed that Elekta was once the girlfriend of Daredevil himself, Matt Murdock. However, Matt’s failure to save her father from terrorists led Elektra down a dangerous path to become an assassin.

Elektra’s enduring popularity as a character has led to two ongoing comic book series, and several miniseries. Actress Jennifer Garner previously portrayed Elektra in the Daredevil 2003 movie, and in a solo Elektra film that came out in 2005.

One of Elektra’s biggest rivals is the assassin known as Bullseye. Action star Jason Statham was briefly linked to the role of Bullseye for Daredevil Season 2, but the role has yet to be cast. Colin Farrell played Bullseye in the Daredevil film.

Aside from Yung, the biggest addition to Daredevil Season 2 is former Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle AKA The Punisher. With Elektra, The Punisher, and most likely Bullseye added to the mix, Daredevil Season 2 is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious TV seasons to date!

Expect Daredevil Season 2 to premiere on Netflix in April 2016.
