Real Madrid Interested In Luring Away Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling is being eyed up by Real Madrid, according to Zinedine Zidane.

Legend Zidane is currently in charge of training the La Liga club’s b-team, though has stated that the Spanish outfit is monitoring the 20-year-old Liverpool player as he continues to delay signing a new contract with his club.

Speaking of Sterling potentially being a transfer target for Madrid, Zidane said: “We know who Raheem Sterling is, and of course we are monitoring him as a player.

“There are very few players in the world who can improve the Real Madrid squad, so it is going to make sense we monitor the progress of the best young players in the world. We monitored (Gareth) Bale for over a year, the same with Isco and also (Raphael) Varane.

“We monitor many of the best young players in Europe, then if we feel they have something to offer Real Madrid we will contact their club and try and make the next step.”

Sterling has had another impressive season with Liverpool despite the club’s underwhelming season, but manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that he is not for sale regardless of whether or not other clubs are interested in signing him.

Though Sterling is currently stalling on signing a new contract with the club, Rodgers said: “Raheem has two and a half years left on his deal and he’s not going anywhere in the summer. He’s quite relaxed, as I am, and he just wants to focus on the rest of the season.”

Considering Sterling’s young age he could certainly prove to be a successful acquisition for Real Madrid, and spending time at the top of La Liga with some of the best players in the world could drastically improve his game for when he returns to play football for the England national team.
