Battlefield Hardline Goes Gold, DICE Announces

The upcoming cops-and-robbers-inspired shooter and next installment in the Battlefield franchise, Battlefield Hardline, has gone gold, according to the official Battlefield Twitter account.

With the numbers previously announced – that more than 5 million players participated in Hardline‘s open beta – it would have been a feat if Battlefield Hardline didn’t go gold. The early looks at this game have been met with wild popularity and usually warm reception.

With Grand Theft Auto V‘s PC release being delayed from March 24, Battlefield Hardline will release as the only game in March that offers high-quality, semi-casual entertainment. From Software’s Bloodborne is sure to compete, at least with the PlayStation 4’s audience, but Hardline is cross-generation, making it not too concerned with a PS4 exclusive.

The real question mark is Hardline‘s state at release. Gamers are still reeling from the disastrous launch of Battlefield 4, and are hoping the delays Battlefield Hardline suffered will rectify any potential performance issues.

Battlefield Hardline is due March 17 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
