Song Premiere: The Black Cadillacs Lead With Groove Psychedelia on ‘Methodrone’

Knoxville blues-driven indie rockers The Black Cadillacs are kicking into gear for a banner year, with the upcoming release of The Black Cadillacs EP arriving on Feb. 24th via Red Bull Sound Select. Their soul-charged rock revival is a refreshing dose of connectivity between heart and instrument, an increasingly rare find in the music world today.

We’re proud to premiere our favorite track from the EP, a rockin’ number with a thick streak of brit-pop psychedelia called “Methodrone” – check it out below, exclusively on Crave.

“Last summer we took a writing retreat to a lake house in the woods,” the guys explain of the song’s beginnings. “We ended up partying a little more than writing, but this tune came together on the first night, and is one of our favorites to date. At the time we were way into Brian Jonestown Massacre, as well as a slew of other Lo-fi, shoegazey 90’s bands, and were going for that darker “drone-ier” sound. And yes, the name is a rip/homage to BJM.”

We first caught up with The Black Cadillacs at Voodoo Fest in 2013, on the road in support of their first label release Run. We were among the instantly-converted new fans after they tore through a set of groove-rock greatness that couldn’t get enough of. Shortly after their performance, we met up with the guys backstage for a discussion on making new fans, their creative process, new material and how to exist in the rip-roaring blues-rock spectrum without sounding like Jack White or Black Keys disciples.
