“The Future of PC Gaming” to be Unveiled by Microsoft on January 21st

Microsoft is looking to propel PC gaming to new heights with its upcoming Windows 10 operating system, with the company set to reveal how the new OS will impact the gaming industry in its Windows event on January 21st.

According to Xbox boss Phil Spencer, Windows 10 “could be the best operating system” Microsoft has ever created for PC gaming, continuing: “For the Xbox team, this is the beginning of our discussion with fans about the work that we’re doing to bring gaming to the Windows 10 operating system.”

He added: “It’s really nice to finally get to be able to talk about this. We’ll continue the conversation throughout the year.”

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer looks to bring his gaming expertise to Windows 10.

Spencer made the comments in an interview with the official Xbox Wire site, with a statement from Microsoft reading: “The Xbox team is continually working hard to expand and improve the experience across myriad devices – including home gaming PCs, soon to be powered by Windows 10.

“Our goal is to help PC gaming flourish, and we’re excited to be helping shape the future of Windows. Phil Spencer will be sharing more on the Windows consumer experience at a Windows event on January 21, including the role that gaming will play.”

The Windows event will be livestreamed on Microsoft’s Windows 10 website from 9am (PST) / 5pm (GMT) on January 21st. When it was originally announced that Spencer was going to be presenting during the event, many assumed he would be discussing the Xbox One, though the Xbox division head later confirmed that he would instead be discussing Windows 10’s focus upon PC gaming, and how the OS would integrate with the Xbox One.

Windows 10 is a push from Microsoft to improve its Windows ecosystem, allowing connectivity between desktops, laptops and its gaming consoles and Windows Phones. It is expected to launch at the end of this year.
