Halo: The Master Chief Collection Patch Causes Complaints, Reportedly Wiping Out Campaign Progress

A 523MB patch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection was released yesterday, with developer 343 Industries looking to rectify a number of problems the game’s online component is experiencing. However, according to players on the official Halo forums, the patch has done little to resolve these issues.

While there are quite a few players who are reporting that joining a game session is a less arduous experience, imbalanced teams and other annoying issues are reportedly still prevalent, with party matches in particular struggling to work a majority of the time.

Some players are claiming that the patch has wiped out their progress in the game’s campaign.

On top of this, the games that players are finding are still laggy, with some even claiming that the patch has made the game worse for them, while others have stated that the patch has also wiped out their progress in the game’s campaign. Forum user CyberKnight wrote: “My son and I had been going through the LASO (Legendary All Skulls On)  playlist. We had one mission left in Halo CE. After this update, the mission parameters changed, and the number of skulls on LASO went from 8 to 12, including the Iron skull. This went from something that was very hard that we were doing together, to something that is impossible for us.

“To make matters worse, this update also WIPED OUT MY PROGRESS. Although it says I can “resume” my LASO playlist on The Maw, it shows 0/10 missions complete. My progress on the Master Chief Saga playlist shows the same. When I pull up Halo CE Campaign, all of the missions show as if I have completed none of them – even though I had completed everything but The Maw on Legendary co-op (as a consequence of me playing the LASO campaign) and about half of them solo Normal (as I was playing the Master Chief Saga playlist).”

Others are stating that while they can now enter into a matchmaking game, they still find themselves frequently placed in teams of 1 or 2 against teams of 4 or 5.

343 Industries has said that they are working on developing patches to improve the game over the “coming weeks,” so hopefully the next update to the game will iron out most of these issues entirely. Unfortunately, it’s likely that the issues experienced in Halo: The Master Chief Collection by its players will lead many to begin worrying about the multiplayer component of Halo 5: Guardians, which will also be handled by 343.
