Exclusive: Gamer Attempts World Record by Playing Far Cry 4 in Quest for Everest [Update]

Update: This was a record attempt, not a confirmed record set. Sorry for the confusion.

Original Story: Will Cruz has finally reached his destination atop Kala Patthar in the Himalayas. After a week long trek across dangerous terrain with varying weather conditions, he has been able to sit down and play Far Cry 4, attempting a world record for ‘highest altitude video game console session on land’ in the process.

Cruz’ world record attempt has been documented in the fourth episode of Far Cry 4 Quest for Everest, which also shows his final hike to reach a beautiful destination that has a view of Mount Everest’s peaks. He’s been able to compare and contrast the real-world inspired environments of the game with the stunning habitat of Nepal unlike any other. Check out the episode above.

The quest to Everest Base Camp and eventually Kala Patthar began at Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Cruz would hike over 4,000 feet to reach his final objective. Photos of Cruz playing Far Cry 4 which include some of the Sherpas who aided him along the way can be seen here.

Far Cry 4 will debut on November 18th for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. You can read more about the game on its official website.
