Listen: Paul McCartney Shares Unreleased John Bonham Collaboration

Well, nobody expected this pairing of legends. Living legend Paul McCartney unceremoniously unveiled a never-before-heard collaboration track between the king of all drummers, John “Bonzo” Bonham, and his own band Wings during a Twitter Q&A on Sunday.

The original version of the track, “Beware of Love,” was originally featured on the 1975 Wings album, Wings at the Speed of Sound. But in this newly released rendition, the iconic Led Zeppelin drummer handles percussion duties. Recorded five years before the tragic and untimely death of John Bonham in 1980, the track possesses a hint of the energy that legions of drummers would cite as inspiration in the ensuing years.

Have a listen to the newly premiered song on iTunes via the link McCartney provided in his tweet (above). There you can buy it as either a $1.29 standalone track, or as part of the larger reissue version of Wings at the Speed of Sound when it hits digital and actual shelves on November 4. An updated reissue of the band’s previous album, Venus and Mars, will be released on the same day.
