Beck & Jenny Lewis Get Freaky With ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?’ Cover

It’s been quite a summer for cover songs, as we’ve seen Jack White cover Metallica and Jay Z, The Killers cover “Fancy,” Pearl Jam tackling “Let It Go” from Frozen, and Arcade Fire covering just about every artist known to man. Beck Hansen kept the covers train rolling on Wednesday when he pulled touring partner Jenny Lewis onstage during his show in Redmond, Washington for a sassy little sonic treat: they covered Rod Stewart’s 1978 disco smash “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy”.

Watch Beck and Lewis rock the classic song below, keeping the original porn-music arrangement. It’s not a far cry from the velvet sex-god hysterics of Beck’s 1999’s masterpiece Midnite Vultures, as Lewis adds just the right amount of juice to counter-balance Hansen’s drunk-wedding-singer vibe and give an air of ‘70s authenticity. The collaboration is a nice follow-up to their recorded team-up on Jenny’s “Just One Of The Guys” from her latest album The Voyager.

“We could go all night – we could go all night! Just you and me and Jenny and a couple of friends,” Beck improvs mid-song, channeling a “Hollywood Freaks” level of cheeky intimacy. “There’s enough room in the bed tonight, and when the dawn comes and the birds are singing, we won’t be strangers anymore. Outside it’s cold and it’s raining and it’s misty, but I’m not complaining.”
