PlanetSide 2 Creative Director Jokingly Calls PS4 Gamers “Console Peasants” During Keynote

While speaking at this year’s SEO Live during during the PlanetSide 2 keynote, Creative Director Matthew Higby emphasized that the development of the PS4 version of the game has resulted in a ton of polish in the PC version as well. He ended with the following statement:

Maybe you guys have seen  in the last patch how we fixed a major bug with input. A lot of that comes from things that are being rewritten for the PS4, so we’re all getting a ton of benefit out of the work that’s being done. So even if you’re not a console peasant, you will appreciate what you get out of the console game.

He was clearly kidding, as indicated by his smile, but the audience had mixed feelings about his choice of words.

PlanetSide 2‘s PS4 version has been in development for more than a year, and was initially planned for a PS4 launch window release.  However, it’s received several delays in order to ensure that once it’s available, it runs as well as possible. This is a SOE published game, so it’s understandable that Sony wants it to be as strong of a showcase on PS4 as possible.

SOE Live ends today after three days of panels, live gameplay footage, and announcements. PlanetSide 2 is only one of several games that were highlighted at the event, with H1Z1 and Landmark getting a ton of attention during the week.

PlanetSide 2 is currently available on PC for free, and will release on PS4 later this year.
