WWE 2K15 to Feature Original Career Mode Lifted Straight from NBA 2K14

2K Games has made an incredibly exciting announcement regarding WWE 2K15, as it has revealed that the game will feature a career mode that follows in the path of NBA 2K14, allowing you to take control of your created wrestler as they rise through the ranks in the WWE.

The WWE video game series has previously allowed players to take control of their created characters in each games’ single-player mode, but dropped that mode in favor of the “flashback” game modes that have appeared in recent entries, such as WWE 2K14‘s ’30 Years of WrestleMania’ mode that allowed players to relive the greatest WrestleMania moments from the past.

However, a completely new and original story mode for the series has been something fans have requested for a while now, and providing compelling, unique narratives was always something that developer Yuke’s always struggled with. But now that Yuke’s are being joined by Visual Concepts, who developed the fantastic NBA 2K14 and its surprisingly fantastic single-player mode, chances are that we’ll see something much more in line with our high expectations this time around.

Rumor has it that WWE 2K15 will be bringing numerous NXT wrestlers into the fold, with NXT being WWE’s developmental branch used to train talent before they make their way onto the big stage. If this rumor is to be believed, then the game will likely see the player’s created character wrestling their way through NXT, rising to the top before making their way through the ranks of RAW and SmackDown! Unfortunately, this mode will be available on current-gen consoles only, meaning that those who don’t own a PS4 or Xbox One will be missing out.

2K also announced a separate single-player mode they’re calling ”2K Showcase’, which will be broken up into two episodes that each focus upon an infamous rivalry from WWE’s past. 2K hasn’t announced what these rivalries will be as of yet, but we’d put a lot of money on Rock vs. Austin being featured.

Also, considering Sting has been announced for the game, would it be possible for WWE 2K15 to feature a heavy WCW presence and possibly feature the nWo vs. Sting rivalry as one of the episodes? It certainly seems like a long shot, but there’s no harm in hoping.
