Vancouver International Jazz Festival Kicks Off This Weekend

More than 100,000 people are expected to visit the 29th edition of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, which is running from June 20th until July 1st. John Korsrud’s Hard Rubber Orchestra, Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, Jill Barber, Jason Marsalis, and Quantic are just a few of the musicians who will be performing on one of the many stages during the event throughout the city.

More than half of the shows at the event are free. In addition to music, there will be various food trucks as well as an artisan market on Howe Street.

The Coastal Jazz and Blues Society, the founders of the Vancouver International Jazz Fest, was incorporated in 1986 as a community based, not-profit, charitable arts organization located in Vancouver. Today, the Society ranks as BC’s largest music presenter producing the annual TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival, the Music Series at the Winterruption Festival on Granville Island, the Time Flies Improvised Music Festival and several year-round concerts. The Society is also a significant part of Vancouver and BC’s economic engine and tourism industry, attracting over half a million people to the annual jazz festival and generating over $35 million in economic activity.
