Arctic Monkeys Have No Plans to Release an ‘AM’ Follow-Up

Arctic Monkeys have no plans to release a follow-up to AM yet, as Alex Turner has stated that the band is focusing upon conquering America before turning their attention to a new LP.

Speaking to NME Magazine, Turner said: “I’ve written a few things, but I’m not in a hurry. We’re going to keep going [with touring] until the summer and beyond that a little bit, maybe. I don’t know. I wouldn’t think it’ll be too soon that we do the next one.”

Arctic Monkeys are currently in the process of “breaking” America, something which all British bands aspire to do but only a handful manage to achieve. Speaking about the Sheffield band’s continued success in the region, Turner said: “It’s been going really well in America and there’s still lots of shit still to do on this album. I don’t feel, for once, that we need to rush and get on to the next thing. It seems like a good place to leave it for a minute.”

Though we wouldn’t want the Arctic Monkeys to rush into producing an album for the sake of it, it’s always a little disconcerting to hear a band discussing music from a business standpoint. Hopefully The Orwells weren’t right about them.
