Listen: Wayne Rooney’s World Cup 2014 Playlist is Hilariously Mundane

Wayne Rooney has posted the playlist he’ll be taking with to the World Cup 2014, and it’s a perfect encapsulation of just how dull the modern day footballer is.

Among the tracks the striker will be listening to in order to pump him up for the tournament in Rio, Brazil is Bruno Mars’ ‘Locked Out of Heaven’, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Small Bump’  and Mumford & Sons’ ‘Little Lion Man’. All are essentially the musical equivalent of beige.

Rooney posted the Spotify playlist on his official Twitter account, along with the caption: “this is my world cup album 2014 hope everyone enjoys it. Bit of a mixed bag [sic]”. If “mixed bag” means “everything they’ve ever played on BBC Radio 1”, then Rooney’s dead on the money.

If you want to send yourself into a boredom-induced cathartic state, then you can listen to the playlist here.

In more odd World Cup 2014 news, Stephen Hawking recently did a study on how England can list the trophy in the upcoming tournament. Watch a video of his results here.
