Kojima Would Like to Develop a PC Port of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Speaking to GameSpot, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima shared his interest in making a PC version of MGSV: The Phantom Pain, citing his PC development roots as a source of inspiration. He said:

PC, that’s my original background. I originally created PC games. A long time ago I didn’t want to rely on platforms to release games, so if people want it, I cannot make a formal announcement, but that is definitely something that I would like to do.

As he’s expressed, there currently are no plans to develop a PC version, but at least it’s a possibility.

The Metal Gear series hasn’t been a stranger to PC in the past. Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty both had PC releases. Although they arrived at a later date, they incorporated some extra post-release content. Admittedly, they were buggy, though.

One of the greatest benefits of modern console hardware is their x86 architecture. Ports aren’t nearly as troubling to make as in generations past, so a MGSV on PC isn’t as far-fetched as some may think. All it could take is a huge wave of expressed interest from PC gamers to make it happen.
