CBS thinks Stephen Colbert has humiliated them, a recent rumor suggests. The rumor follows the ongoing drama between the talk show host and the network over the unaired interview of Democrat candidate James Talarico. Previously, Colbert also accused the network of not airing the interview due to fear of an FCC investigation.
Rumors suggest CBS thinks Stephen Colbert ‘humiliated’ them
According to a new rumor, CBS is feeling humiliated because of talk show host Stephen Colbert. Colbert, whose show was canceled by the network and is set to end in May 2026, recently accused CBS of blocking his interview with James Talarico.
The rumor suggests that an insider has told Rob Shuter, “He humiliated them. Again. There are new bosses, and they are not amused.” Another source reportedly conveyed, “They feel like they can’t control him anymore. As the end date gets closer, he has nothing to lose — and that makes executives nervous.”
A third insider went on to claim, “He’s unleashed. And that’s exactly what scares them.” Based on the rumor, an employee has also stated, “Some staff are quietly cheering him on. They think he’s saying what others won’t.”
Colbert’s interview with the Democratic candidate was supposed to air, but was blocked by CBS. According to the BBC, he said on Monday’s episode, “We were told in no uncertain terms by our network’s lawyers, who called us directly, that we could not have him on the broadcast. Then, I was told in some uncertain terms that not only could I not have him on, I could not mention me not having him on.” The network later issued a statement denouncing Colbert’s claims, which conveyed, “The Late Show was not prohibited by CBS from broadcasting the interview with Rep James Talarico.”
However, according to CNBC, Colbert showed the statement in Tuesday’s episode and called it “crap.”
