PS4 v1.61 Mandatory Update Now Live

Sony Community Manager Chris Owen said the following about the update on Twitter:

#PS4 firmware v1.61 is now live (mandatory) and provides general enhancements to the PS4 system’s stability.

And no, he doesn’t mean that it corrects the infamous wobble.

Some PS4 owners have complained about freezing when using apps or playing games. In my case, I froze just shy of a dozen times while watching Netflix before I decided to make my Xbox One my Netflix machine.

Sony is expected to release 1.7 in a couple of months which should bring more customization to the home screen as well as some much needed options such as being able to turn off the DualShock 4 when watching a movie.

The PS4’s 1.61 update is 338MB, so get that download going.
