Beck ‘Morning Phase’ Cover Art Revealed

Beck’s impending new album, Morning Phase, now has a cover art to go with a massively disappointing first single.

Not unlike Beck’s 2002 album Sea Change, the Morning Phase cover features a closeup shot of the songwriter’s face, overlaid with colors. Morning Phase has been described as “a companion piece of sorts” to Sea Change, which is supported by the downtrodden sound of first single “Blue Moon,” which you can hear below.

Some will love the new song, as it follows the sad-sack palette of Sea Change. But for those who remember Beck as the weirdo savant rockin Zankou Chicken while espousing the benefits of cold-steppin’ to a pulchritudinous JC Penny worker with a fresh pack of gum, rather than the heartbroken Scientologist whiner we hear on Sea Change and now “Blue Moon,” these are not promising developments.

Morning Phase, Beck’s first proper full studio album in six years, is due out on February 25 through Capitol.
