Listen to Spotify’s Top 50 Tracks For The Week: A Playlist

Change is coming slow and steady to the Spotify Top 50 Streams of the week, after the end of 2013 saw a virtual Groundhog Day effect with Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Avicii, Drake and Lorde rotating positions in the top 5 for months on end.

After her twerknasty, tongue-flapping VMAs antics and follow-up sex-milking videos, the Miley hype train has taken a strong dip in popularity. The singer’s “Wrecking Ball” single drops to #16 from its former #1 position after garnering only 916,000 streams this week, replaced by Pitbull’s “Timber” at 1,576,437 streams. Between them, One Republic’s “Counting Stars” rolls in at #2 with 1.4 million plays, while Lorde’s apparently immortal hit “Royals” locks in #3 with 1.3 million plays, an uptick from her #4 position last week. Rounding out the top 5 are Eminem’s hit with Rihanna “The Monster” at 1.3 million and “Say Something” by A Great Big World with 1.3 million spins as well.

The following list represents the top streamed tracks on Spotify from the past week.
