Band of The Month: Irontom Interview & ‘Your Mother’ Exclusive Performance

Wrapping up December’s Band of The Month run today, we’re thrilled to deliver the sixth and final performance from Los Angeles quintet Irontom, as well as an in-depth interview with the first band on our SXSW 2014 bill!

In week one we brought you a first taste of the Irontom session with the churning excellence of “Goin’ Slow,” and the crass, jarring crush of “What Will Happen To All The Indie Stars?” It was an enormously promising intro to the ecstatic energy brought by guitarist Zach Irons, singer Harry Hayes, bassist Dane Sandborg, keyboardist Daniel Saslow and drummer Dyl Williams, but that was just the beginning. They then followed up with a positively electrifying cover of Gorillaz’ smash hit “Feel Good Inc,” making the song their own with an added verse and a spastically awesome instrumental design, and followed up with the spastically awesome radio-baiting single “I’m Better”. If that doesn’t get your juices flowing, call yourself a cab and get your ass to the morgue.

Before we get to the next performance, check out our talk with the guys, where they discuss the importance of believing in what you do enough to make the necessary sacrifices, as well as what they’ve gained from their spiritual godfather, the immortally awesome Alain Johannes (Queens of The Stone Age, Eleven, Them Crooked Vultures), who produced both their Loose and Nitro EPs.

It’s been a hell of a great run so far this month with Irontom, and we’re closing out with a lurching, funktastic run through “Your Mother”. Check it out below, exclusively on CraveOnline!
