Lily Allen Confirmed for Glastonbury 2014

Lily Allen has confirmed that she will be playing at Glastonbury 2014, in an interview with Radio 1 DJ Nick “Grimmy” Grimshaw this morning (November 19th).

Speaking to Grimshaw, Allen said: “It got confirmed yesterday. That’s the first big thing I’m going to be doing. I’ll be doing 16 weeks of festivals over the summer and then tour.” Allen also stated that Glastonbury was the “best festival” alongside Japan’s Fuji Rocks.

The singer recently faced criticism for the video of her comeback single ‘Hard Out Here’, which you can watch right here, which features a troupe of black female dancers gyrating around the singer, leading many to bemoan Allen’s reinforcement of racial stereotypes and her perceived undermining of the dancers. Allen responded to these criticisms on Twitter, saying: “If anyone thinks that after asking the girls to audition, I was going to send any of them away because of the colour of their skin, they’re wrong.

“The message is clear. Whilst I don’t want to offend anyone. I do strive to provoke thought and conversation. The video is meant to be a lighthearted satirical video that deals with objectification of women within modern pop culture. It has nothing to do with race, at all.”
