Planetside 2 Not Coming to PS4 Until Early 2014

Expecting to play Planetside 2 on your supercharged PS4 this holiday season? We have bad news for you.

SOE President John Smedley has dated Planetside 2‘s PS4 release for early 2014. He said to Bloomberg during an interview:

We’re helping the Sony PlayStation 4 launch on November 15 by releasing DC Universe Online at launch, and we’re following up that early next year with our next game, PlanetSide 2, on PS4.

Planetside 2 was originally scheduled for the PS4’s “launch window”. Now it may be upward of 4 months before PS4 players can play one of the most fully realized MMOFPS games in history. Although it was never promised to come alongside the PS4, this is yet another delayed title that would’ve helped the PS4’s early lineup, especially since it’s free-to-play.

DC Universe Online is still on-track for a November 15th launch alongside the PS4, making it the flagship MMO of the system. Both are currently, and should remain, exclusive to PC and PS4.
