Famous Author Tom Clancy Dead at Age 66

Tom Clancy passed away this morning at age 66. He spent his last few hours at a hospital in Baltimore, the city where he was born. While the cause of death is unclear, he has been battling illness for a period of time.

He was best known for his fictions based on military science and espionage including The Hunt for Red October, which would later have a critically-acclaimed film adaptation, and Patriot Games. Both would propel him to stardom.

For gamers, his name can be found everywhere from over a dozen Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six titles to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. While the future of these long-running franchises is unknown, Tom Clancy’s The Division will continue development as normal.

He recently finished what will be his final book, Command Authority. It will release in December.

Rest in peace, Tom Clancy. You will be missed.
