Arcade Fire Performing At First-Ever YouTube Music Awards

YouTube is hosting the YouTube Music Awards for the first time, giving recognition to popular online musicians, and Canada’s own Arcade Fire is on the bill as one of the performers.

Lady Gaga and Eminem are also scheduled to hit the stage, and actor Jason Schwartzman (“Drunk History”) will host the show.

As an article in The Telegraph pointed out, Google-owned YouTube has more than one billion unique users a month and watch six billion hours of music videos every month. In February, the US singles chart decided to include YouTube and sister site Vevo views in the Billboard Hot 100 in February and, of the 10 most-watched videos of all time, nine are music videos.

Viewers are asked to start casting votes on October 17th when the shortlist of nominees are announced.
