Spotify’s Top 50 Tracks For The Week: A Playlist

Talk all the trash you like about Miley Cyrus‘ erotic-baby spaz-twerk bonanza at the VMAs last month – controversy is exposure. By a screaming long shot of over a half million plays, Miley’s “Wrecking Ball” single is far and away the most played single on Spotify this week, with 2,510,090 plays at publish time.

Sure, it undoubtedly helped that her silly little Animaniacs body was naked in the video for the single, pouting like a depressed Furby while riding an actual wrecking ball and tongue-fucking a sledgehammer to the delight of… well, we’d rather not think about the weirdos getting off on this baby-fetish weirdo stuff.

Lorde follows up with over 2 million plays of her infectious single “Royals,” though the track’s been in circulation since June. After three solid weeks on top, Avicii slips to third with 1.94 million plays on his “Wake Me Up” single, while Katy Perry follows up with 1.92 million plays of “Roar,” and Drake rounds out the top 5 with 1.6 million spins on his new single “Hold On, We’re Going Home”.
