TGS 2013: Final Fantasy XV Will Be Absent from Tokyo Game Show

Tokyo Game Show is only days away, and usually that means being updated on your favorite Japanese-derived franchises. While Metal Gear Solid 5 and others will be in attendance, there’s nothing new for those excited about the next Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy XV director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that the game will not be shown at TGS. Speaking to FF Reunion he said (translated from Japanese):

During E3 I was allowed to talk about Final Fantasy XV for the first time in a long time. I’m sorry but there is no update of information at TGS this time. There are various reasons for this, but please look forward to more information.

Final Fantasy XV is the new title for what originally the Final Fantasy Versus XIII project. It has remained the most largely requested game from Square Enix’s unreleased library, but has had an incredibly long development cycle dating back to 2006.

The game’s jump to next-gen hardware means a complete overhaul of its assets. In-turn, the game is taking a long time to forge. At the very least we know Square Enix isn’t rushing the title to shelves, and it could be a profound JRPG release for next-gen.

Stay tuned for more information about Final Fantasy XV as it very slowly approaches its inevitable release.
