Pokemon X and Y Bundles Sell Out on Amazon Japan Within Hours

Planning to get Pokemon X or Pokemon Y? Welcome to the club. The very big club.

Amazon Japan has issued a Tweet that has confirmed the overwhelming demand for Pokemon X and Y. Pre-orders of both the Limited Edition and regular Pokemon 3DS bundles were exhausted within nine hours of availability. The Tweet says (translated from Japanese):

Reservations ban → 11:00AM is when Pokemon Limited Edition 3DS sold out → 7:00PM is when regular 3DS bundle sold out → 10:00AM is when units were made available. – Pokemon pre-order of hundred thousand units. ※ sold out

Pokemon is one of the best-selling franchises in gaming with every game easily breaking one million units sold and several tallying between 16 – 24 million before all was said and done. Considering Japan is one of the series’ most dependable markets with its uncontested interest in handheld games, its demand in the country isn’t too surprising.

Pokemon X and Y will be the first title built for the 3DS, and in many ways it’s the franchises first time delivering gorgeous graphics with cel-shaded characters and environments. In many ways it’s an important video game release, and thankfully you’ll only be waiting a bit longer because its release date is October 12th.
