Even amidst all the high-octane rock and dance acts that comprise much of Lollapalooza’s loaded lineup, there’s always room on the bill somewhere for a pretty girl with a guitar to sing some pretty songs. Hopefully, a concert organizer thinks, she can chill out some of the hopped-up festival dudes riding their usual high of guitar-fueled adrenaline and lack of sleep, screaming at the top of their lungs.
Lollapalooza 2013, meet Lianne La Havas.
And the best thing about this pretty London folk-soul singer-songwriter? Her music is fierce, conjuring up all the best moments of an Erykah Badu or Jill Scott.
We stole a few minutes with La Havas backstage in the Samsung Galaxy Artist Lounge, where the engaging 23-year-old let us in on the Lollapalooza band she was most looking forward to seeing. And with a few days in Chicago, we also got the inside of which of the city’s culinary delights she’s craving — and it’s probably not that hard to figure out. She is 23, after all.
You can hear what she had to say above.
