Boasting the legendary Alex Newport as its producer (The Mars Volta, The Melvins), In Human Form drops on August 13thWith a brooding, rising intensity, “No Escapes” is a solid & promising taste of what’s to come on the full-length.

Listen to “No Escape” below, exclusively on CraveOnline!

“’No Escapes’ was one of those songs that practically wrote itself, coming together at the last minute before we hit the studio,” shares guitarist Michael Kirsch. “It might not sound like it, but the soundscape in the verse is created by an electric guitar and bass. We try to use traditional instruments in non-traditional ways, rather than rely on modern technology to create new sounds.” Such a desire to preserve humanity in an increasingly digitalized world extends to the album title and the song lyrics. As Kirsch explains, “That’s why we titled the album In Human Form. We don’t use samples or synthesizers, and predominantly record on analog equipment. It’s all about trying to preserve this tangible, human element in music.”

Formed in 2010, Grandfather tapped none other than Steve Albini (Nirvana, The Pixies) to engineer their debut full-length, Why I’d Try. The album caught the attention of tastemaker outlets such as SPIN, Flavorwire and Brooklyn Vegan, while Albini himself named Grandfather a young artist with integrity that inspired him during an interview with GQ Magazine. The band’s current line-up includes Kirsch, Josh Hoffman (vocals/guitar), Tyler Krupsky (bass) and Phil Sangiacomo (drums).

Grandfather will embark on a Northeast tour in August and September (dates to be announced shortly).

Keep up with Grandfather at their official site, and keep an ear out for In Human Form this August!
