Police are used to drunk drivers giving them terrible excuses for their behavior. But one man in Texas gave the cops such a wild explanation for his drunk driving that they decided to post about it on social media. The driver told the police that he was a “famous streamer,” as if that would make things any better for him. And now he’s charged with a DWI and possession of a controlled substance.
Man gives cops a wild excuse for his reckless driving
On October 25, the Magnolia Police Department said that officers had arrested an unnamed man for a DWI after he struck multiple vehicles in a post on its official Facebook page.
Officers responded to call about a possible drunk driver on Texas State Highway 249 after the man was not able to keep his car in its lane (some commenters believe that the car is a Dodge V6) in its lane and had already collided with several vehicles. The post says that the driver displayed “signs of intoxication” after the police caught up with the driver and stopped his vehicle.
That’s when the man gave them a strange explanation for his drunk driving. “He stated, though, that he is a famous streamer,” the police department said, “and his followers were merely making false claims to dox him, after streaming at Ren Fest for 9 hours.”
Regardless of his claimed celebrity status, the man was investigated for intoxication and subsequently arrested for DWI and possession of a controlled substance for Xanax. When the officers obtained a search warrant for a blood specimen, though, the driver resisted the blood draw and became belligerent.
“Maybe he was just doing it for views and likes,” the post continued, “but eventually the blood search warrant was successful.”
The police department couldn’t help but roast the drunk driver one last time: “Feel free to tag us if he posts about us on his channel or whatever his claim to fame platform he uses.”
Some commenters on Facebook found the story hilarious. One wrote, “I NEVER thought I would hear the words, RenFest, Famous and Streamer, used in the same sentence.”
Another said, “Is this the new ‘Do you know who I am?’ I’m sure the officer instructed the driver to ‘Tell that to the judge,’ and then laughed out loud as he shut the passenger door of the cruiser.”
