Jack Antonoff Explains Why He’s Still Performing Margaret Qualley Love Songs Despite Breakup

Jack Antonoff is standing by the love songs he wrote about Margaret Qualley, despite their separation. The Bleachers frontman has explained why he continues to perform the personal songs on tour.

In an interview with The Guardian, Antonoff discussed performing songs connected to his relationship with Qualley. The singer-songwriter said he considered changing his setlist after their marriage had ended but ultimately decided to keep the songs. He said, “The deal I’ve made with my audience is I’m going to tell you honestly how I feel, and I’m going to risk at any moment having to stand behind it for fucking ever.”

The couple married in August 2023, but news of their separation emerged in July 2026. Their split drew attention because Bleachers had released its latest album just weeks earlier.

Jack Antonoff’s new album has taken on a whole new meaning after his split

Everyone for Ten Minutes arrived shortly before the couple’s separation became public. The album includes songs like “You and Forever” and “Dirty Wedding Dress” connected to Antonoff’s feelings about love and marriage. The set has taken on new significance as he continues performing them after the separation.

Jack Antonoff believes that these songs allow him to acknowledge both the happy and painful parts of his life. He explained that listeners can connect with the emotions behind the music through their own experiences. He also described the shared experience of performing the songs as meaningful despite the pain of the separation.

Antonoff shared, “I don’t rewrite the past. I have no shame about the things I’ve said.” He added that singing about happier times helps him avoid pretending those moments never happened. “I would rather live through something publicly than even escape it privately.”

His decision to continue performing these songs indicates that their personal significance remains, even in light of his changed relationship with Margaret Qualley.
