It’s already embarrassing for a grown adult to get caught stealing merchandise from a store, but one woman in Pennsylvania decided to go one step further. Images taken from a surveillance camera from Dollar General shows a woman crying and pleading with managers not to call the cops after she was caught red-handed. Of course she didn’t want to get arrested, but officers soon discovered that there was another reason why she began panicking.
Retail thief gets scared because she’s already been identified by police
On October 3 at around 12:44 p.m., Cydnee Noelle Dingman was caught stealing about $90 worth of merchandise from a Dollar General on Blackman Street, according to a post from the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department on its official Facebook page.
Two images taken from security cameras in the store show the woman “blubbering” in front of the store’s managers. Police say she begged them not to call police “because she was already posted previously by police.”
Indeed, she was identified as a retail thief about a month prior on August 28. The police department caught Dingman stealing about $181 worth of merchandise from a TJ Maxx. After grabbing the items, she made “no attempt to pay for the merchandise and left the area.”
Law enforcement originally could not identify the woman, but tips from the community eventually identified her as Dingman. She still has an outstanding bench warrant for retail theft for this incident.
In a similar fashion, the woman did not cooperate with management from Dollar General and fled in her Nissan Maxima. However, a clear image of her vehicle’s license plate of “MBR5813” had already been taken. There has not yet been an update on whether Dingman has been caught or taken into custody.
One commenter to the story on Facebook hopes that Dingman gets the mental help she needs: “This is where addiction will take you folks. Shame, hopelessness, lack of respect for others, and especially for yourself. Recovery is possible, but few ever get it.”
