Police Arrest Man With Strange Object Taped to His Underwear

Police are used to criminals trying to hide objects, like firearms and drugs, from them before they get arrested. But even cops in Florida were surprised to find what one convicted felon had taped to his underwear during their search. But given the man was a fugitive who already had warrants out for his arrest in two states, he likely thought he needed to prepare as much as possible.

Fugitive caught on video kicking a weapon underneath a vehicle

On October 1 at around 7:24 p.m., deputies in Florida arrested 42-year-old Jonathan Terry who had several active warrants out of his arrest from Kentucky and Indiana, according to a post by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on its official Facebook page.

Footage taken from aerial drones and bodycam video shows Terry attempting to escape the cops. The sheriff’s office says that deputies and its Aviation Unit had begun tracking the suspect at 6:37 p.m., responding to the 15000 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Dover.

Terry runs underneath an open shed and running toward a white truck. An operator is heard saying that he had kicked something below the vehicle.

Once deputies surround him, though, Terry gives up quickly, putting his hands up and going on his hands and knees. After being handcuffed on the ground, he admits to the deputies that he kicked a pair of brass knuckles beneath the car.

On a subsequent search, the deputies found a handcuff key affixed to the suspect’s underwear with some tape. This suggests that Terry knew that it was only a matter of time before he was going to get caught.

Terry faces one charge of a felon carrying a concealed weapon and another charge of possessing a concealed handcuff key. He has an active warrant from Kentucky for violating his probation on a possession of a controlled substance charge and a fugitive warrant from Indiana that has lasted over four years over failing to appear for a meth possession charge.
