Sometimes being outwardly defensive is as damning as saying nothing at all. One Florida woman found out the hard way that telling cops how to do their jobs during a traffic stop might not be a good idea. As caught on video, she told them to just give her a ticket, but the police decided to check her car thoroughly and discovered what she was really hiding from them.
Female driver charged with five counts of drug possession
On August 27 at around 5:13 p.m, deputies pulled 44-year-old Rebecca Evans as part of a traffic stop near East Fletcher Avenue and North 20th Street in Tampa, as captured on bodycam footage in a post by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on its official Facebook page.
When deputies approached the silver SUV, the woman began shouting at them, complaining that they were pulling people over needlessly.
“Give me my ticket,” Evans demanded. “I don’t like when y’all, all y’all just want to pull people over for petty stuff. That’s what y’all do.”
“Sorry, it’s my job,” the deputy replied.
“I know, but baby, it’s too much of your job. It’s so much stuff going on out here,” she said. “It’s too much going on out here for you to worry about a stop and a stop.”
The cop asks Evans to hop out of the car, so they can converse elsewhere. The video then cuts about two minutes later as both deputies search front seats of the vehicle. One begins laughing as they find multiple bags of drugs, including cocaine, cannabinoid edibles, MDMA pills, oxycodone pills, and a tray of sativa resin.
Evans was arrested and faces three counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of cocaine, and one count of possession of cannabis sativa resin.
Several commenters on Facebook mocked what the driver said at the beginning of the traffic stop. One wrote, “She was right; ‘it’s a lot out here to worry about’ and she was one of them.”
Another agreed: “‘Too much going on out there’ lol. Seems to be a lot going on right there in that car.”
