Two juveniles in Pennsylvania have been charged after they allegedly threw stones, sticks, and logs at passing vehicles from an overpass of a busy highway. Despite past incidents of teenagers getting charged with murder for throwing rocks at cars, like in the high-profile 2023 case of Alexa Bartell, it’s unfortunately still happening. And by the time police caught the two teens, they had already damaged over a dozen vehicles and injured two.
Two injured after two teens threw objects at vehicles
A 14-year-old male and an 11-year-old male have been charged after they allegedly hurled rocks and logs at traffic along Route 30 in Chester County on the evenings of August 19 and August 21, according to Pennsylvania State Police, per reports by NBC Philadelphia and Fox 29.
Officials say that two unnamed teens had damaged a total of 17 vehicles after throwing objects from US-30 Bypass, which is easy of Airport Road in Valley Township, at the moving cars and trucks below. Two vehicle occupants suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
However, police believe there may be other vehicles that were damaged or passengers who were injured due to these incidents and are asking those affected to contact Trooper Cole Zaph at the PSP Embreeville Station.
Both teens are facing multiple charges that include aggravated assault, propulsion of missiles into or onto a roadway, propulsion of missiles into an occupied vehicle, and recklessly endangering another person.
John Miller, a resident in the area, told 6ABC that the teenagers could have gotten out their aggression someplace safer without harming anyone else.
“I don’t understand the reason for it. There’s no reason,” he said. “You got parks, you got this that you can go to. You can go down to the creek and throw stones in the creek if you want to. Not at cars.”
