Diarra Kilpatrick’s popular mystery dark comedy series is returning with Season 2 on Paramount+ after its debut on BET+. The change in streaming services happened after Paramount Skydance acquired Tyler Perry Studios’ stake in BET+ and announced its shutdown.
Diarra From Detroit Season 2 to stream on Paramount+ this month
Diarra From Detroit is coming back with Season 2 on July 29, 2026, on Paramount+. The first season, comprising eight episodes, began streaming on BET+ between March 21, 2024, and April 25, 2024.
The upcoming season will also have eight episodes and will run up to September 9, with one episode per week. Bet+ renewed the series for its sophomore season in March 2026, and Paramount+ set its release date in June (via Deadline).
Created by Diarra Kilpatrick, Diarra From Detroit revolves around Diarra Brickland (Kilpatrick), a divorced school teacher, who thinks a person she found on a dating app has ghosted her. As she tries to find the missing man, Diarra finds herself in the middle of an old mystery.
The logline for Season 2 Episode 1 hints at what fans can expect in the upcoming chapter. “In season 2, Diarra is determined to leave the chaos behind and finally enjoy a little peace,” it reads. Instead, a routine furniture recovery mission lands her in the middle of a grisly new crime, setting off another wildly unpredictable adventure through Detroit’s criminal underworld. As the mystery deepens, she’ll go undercover with a secret society, chase buried treasure, and navigate a love life that’s every bit as complicated as the case itself.”
The cast of Diarra From Detroit also includes Morris Chestnut as François “Swa” Brickland, DomiNque Perry as Aja, Claudia Logan as Moni, Bryan Terrell Clark as Mr. Tea, Shannon Wallace as Chris, and Jon Chaffin as Danger.
Notably, reports emerged in March that Paramount intends to shut down BET+ after purchasing Perry’s shares in the streamer. These reports further revealed that the titles available on the platform would move to Paramount+ starting in June.
